Review

Citadel is a spy thriller built around themes of memory and identity, but despite its ambitious setup, the series struggles to leave a lasting impression.

The story revolves around rival spy agencies, with Citadel positioned as a peacekeeping force and Manticore serving as its disruptive enemy. The narrative introduces multiple mysteries and future spin-offs, including international expansions connected to Italy and India.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas stands out with a confident and stylish performance, bringing charm and mystery to Nadia Sinh. Her chemistry with Richard Madden adds some energy to the series, although the emotional connection between the characters feels inconsistent. Richard Madden’s character suffers from limited depth, making his performance less impactful.

The strongest performances come from Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville, who bring weight and credibility to the spy drama through their experienced portrayals. Their scenes add much-needed intensity and purpose to the series.

Visually, the show attempts to create intrigue through stylish cinematography and recurring visual techniques. However, the writing and direction often feel shallow, with low emotional stakes and repetitive twists reducing the overall impact.

Overall, Citadel is visually polished and occasionally entertaining, but weak writing and underdeveloped characters prevent it from becoming a truly memorable spy series.
